British Nuclear renews IT deal

CSC contract is worth £74m over five years

British Nuclear Group (BNG) is renewing an IT outsourcing deal with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC).

The contract is worth an estimated £74m over its five-year lifespan and supersedes BNG’s expiring five-year deal with the same supplier.

A key part of the contract is the completion of a major business change programme, which is under way across a number of UK sites.

The project, which will be finished later this year, will result in upgraded infrastructure, project and financial control processes, and staff training systems.

‘The increased functionality and simplified business processes resulting from the business change project will deliver significant benefit to the business, and provide a robust IT platform in support of our future strategy,’ said BNG finance director Brian Tenner.

The new deal also includes desktop and application support, and network, telephony and managed security services for BNG’s 12,000 users.

BNG provides management, decommissioning and clean-up services for a number of nuclear sites across the UK. It is a subsidiary of British Nuclear Fuels, a global supplier of nuclear fuel products and services.
