Carillion signs £26.6m deal to integrate Mowlem IT

Company turns to BT to ease acquisition process

BT has been awarded a managed network contract

Construction and support services firm Carillion has struck a deal with BT to help it manage the integration of recently acquired firm Mowlem.

The company has signed a £26.6m contract with BT to manage its converged networks and the integration of Mowlem's legacy systems.

Carillion bought Mowlem in February and now employs 50,000 staff and has a combined order book valued at £9bn.

BT will integrate the networks of both firms and advise on Carillion's future IT requirements across 1,000 sites.

'The professional integration of Carillion and Mowlem is essential to the success of the acquisition and to the delivery of sustainable, profitable growth and enhanced earnings,' said Steve Connor, IT director at Carillion.

'Under our new managed services agreement, BT will be helping us to join our two businesses together and implement a comprehensive review of our networks to see which sites are ready for a new, converged voice and data network,' he said.

Carillion has opted for a managed service which it hopes will enable it to complete contracts faster and avoid subsequent financial penalties.
