Sourcefire launches next-gen threat management system
3D9800 Sensor appliance combines intrusion prevention and network access control
Firms upgrading their network infrastructure to 10Gbit/s speeds might wish to take advantage of a new threat management appliance from security vendor Sourcefire, due to ship in the second half of 2007.
Sourcefire said that the 3D9800 Sensor appliance would be a good fit for firms upgrading either their network backbone or core to 10Gbit/s speeds and wishing to secure those links using a single appliance.
The 3D9800 can be provisioned with up to two Network Interface Modules, allowing both Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for users.
The appliance integrates Sourcefire's intrusion prevention, network behaviour analysis, network access control and vulnerability analysis systems under one management console and uses 12 processing cores to secure content at the highest level, according to the firm.
An additional feature that may interest early adopters is the appliance's support for the IPv6 network addressing scheme.
