Unisys rises to profit of £21m
But overall revenue is down one per cent
Unisys has overcome last year's operating loss
Services provider Unisys made operating profit of $43.6m (£21m) in the third quarter, a significant improvement on the loss of $42.9m (£21m) for the same period last year.
Overall revenue for the three months to the end of September fell one per cent to $1.4bn (£684m) while net loss totalled $31m, or nine cents per share.
Foreign currency exchange rates had a positive impact of around 3 percentage-point on revenue in the quarter, says Unisys.
"We are laying the foundation for improved revenue trends in 2008," said chief executive Joseph W McGrath.
"We are focused on continuing to enhance our profitability in the fourth quarter and we continue to drive toward our goal of an 8-10 percent operating profit margin, excluding retirement expense."
