Heathrow Express offers constant broadband access
Passengers can surf on train from Paddington to Heathrow Airport
The Heathrow Express is offering WiFi to passengers
Heathrow Express has today completed the installation of its WiFi hotspot service to deliver constant broadband internet access for the 15,000 passengers that use the train every day.
The WiFi service was available in Central London and at Heathrow Airport, but is now available for the length of the journey, including the tunnel.
The service has been delivered by T-Mobile, supported by a wireless mobile network installed by Nomad Digital.
It will provide passengers with a typical broadband connection speed of 2Mbps throughout the journey.
The WiFi service will incorporate Wimax technology underground, creating a seamless and uninterrupted connection between Paddington and Heathrow Airport.
Customers can purchase access passes on the trains themselves and continue using the service at other hotspots when they arrive at Heathrow Airport or at Central London locations such as Starbucks coffee shops, Borders bookstores, and hotels.
'We are constantly looking for innovative and useful services for our customers and the addition of T-Mobile hotspots further improves the experience we offer,' said Heathrow Express managing director Brian Raven.
'Giving our time-sensitive travellers the choice to be connected throughout the 15 minute trip to or from the airport is an excellent example of how Heathrow Express stays one step ahead of competitors.'
