Labour taunts William Hague over web site gaffe
Will the real Conservative Party leader please stand up - or at least update his web site...
The real Tory leader - or is he?
Deputy Labour leader Harriet Harman taunted Tory rival William Hague in parliament today over his use – or lack - of the most up-to-date, instant electronic communications to update his Conservative supporters with the latest political developments.
Harman was standing in for Gordon Brown in the Commons during the last Prime Minister's Question Time before Christmas while Brown was away on a morale-raising visit to British troops in Basra.
She taunted Hague, a former Tory leader until he resigned in 2001 after losing the General Election, about the latest message on his personal web site http://www.williamhague.org.uk/.
A Google search for the term "William Hague" brings up his web site near the top of the results list.
The site is headed: "The Rt Hon William Hague MP, Leader of the Conservative Party."
The current Tory leader, David Cameron, was not in the Commons to pass comment.
