Public Accounts Committee criticises slow roll out of Libra courts' system
Delays to the introduction of the magistrates’ courts Libra case management system is leading to millions of pounds-worth of fines going uncollected, says an influential committee of MPs.
More than £350m of charges were imposed by UK courts in 2004-5, says the report from the Commons Public Accounts Committee published this week.
Part of the problem is a lack of sufficient management information, says committee chairman Edward Leigh. ‘The seemingly endless delays to Libra, the Department for Constitutional Affairs’ long-awaited system, mean the department does not have basic information,’ he said.
