Scottish Executive awards £25m IT services contract

Environment and rural affairs department signs five year deal cover

The Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department (SEERAD) has awarded a £25m IT services contract over five years.

IT consultancy Sopra Newell & Budge was awarded the contract which covers all government procurement frameworks and has e-gif accredited status.

Sopra Newell & Budge has already worked in all of the seven core government departments in Scotland as well as in the UK.

The contract follows a previous six year contract which included a joint venture between SEERAD and the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for efficient data sharing and saw the first successful secure information transfer across the Government Gateway – a single point of entry website for registering for online government services.

The scope of the SEERAD contract covers all areas of IT application development including the build and management of these applications and work in specialist areas such as business intelligence, consulting, GIS and testing.

‘Over the last 6 years we’ve developed a true partnership with SEERAD. In addition to their extensive IT expertise, their history with us means they understand our business priorities,’ said Brian Pearson, head of information services.
