Parent company of Hovis extends Capgemini contract
Premier Foods – parent company of Hovis, Mr Kipling, Batchelors, Quorn and Bisto – has renewed its long-term IT outsourcing alliance with Capgemini.
The new contract is worth £9m and will cover the five-year period from 2014 to 2019.
Capgemini will continue to provide Premier Foods’ IT infrastructure, including use of its datacentres in Rotherham and Bristol and technical support for all core business systems.
The outsourcing provider will also offer support for a number of key applications at Premier Foods, under a separate long-term applications management outsourcing contract.
The services will be provided by Capgemini’s teams in the UK, Poland and India, who will continue to work in collaboration with Premier Foods' in-house IT personnel.
The new deal follows the announcement last year of a contract between the two companies covering the period 2009-2014 which, in turn, renewed arrangements dating back to 2001.
Premier Foods said that it wanted to tie up the contract until 2019 at this early stage as it will enable improved certainty of its IT costs, quality and service levels. Essential long-term planning and budgeting activities can now be effected with confidence, the company said.
