Construction firm plumbs in disaster recovery
Contract will provide flexible back-up responses
Construction and services firm Wolseley UK has signed a three-year disaster recovery contract with NDR giving it access to flexible methods of recovery.
The company, which owns brands including Plumb Center, Build Center and Bathstore, has 1,800 branches across the UK, four major distribution centres and offices in Leamington Spa and Ripon.
Wolseley wanted to be able to choose the type of recovery most appropriate to a particular incident to enable it to be as prepared as it possibly can in the event of a disaster.
The contract includes many of NDR’s flexible recovery options such as mobile recovery units, off-loading of equipment to a customer location, remote connectivity or re-location to an NDR business recovery centre.
'We need to ensure that if required, we can recover IT systems to meet critical business timescales immediately,' said Brian Horsfield, information systems director.
‘As well as being able to use an external site we also have the excellent mobile computer room provided by NDR,’ he said.
A large portion of Wolseley UK’s critical IT has undergone a successful disaster recovery test with NDR and further tests will follow.
