Novell releases converter for Microsoft XML documents

New tool allows users of the OpenOffice.org productivity suite to open and save documents in OpenXML format

Novell has made available for download a file conversion tool that enables the OpenOffice.org open-source productivity suite to open and save documents in Microsoft’s OpenXML format.

The tool was announced in February when Microsoft and Novell declared their intention to work more closely on interoperability in order to benefit enterprise customers.

Microsoft has already released an Open XML/ODF Translator for Office 2007 and Office 2003. The new Novell tool is designed to work with the version of OpenOffice.org it ships with its Linux distributions, such as the Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop.
