MessageLabs' Web Security Services to stop online dangers
Managed service emphasises speed and scalability and integrates with MessageLabs' messaging and email offerings
Messaging and web security specialist MessageLabs today announced new managed services to stop web-based threats while ensuring zero latency. The services integrate with the firm's other offerings for instant messaging (IM) and email security.
Web Security Services version 2 was developed on the firm's own proprietary platform and benefits from global load balancing across datacentres to optimise web traffic filtering and reduce latency, said the vendor.
"We focused heavily on speed, scalability and performance [with this service]," said MessageLabs’ vice-president of product management, Brian Czarny. "When you're delivering web security as a managed service you can't have latency or outages."
MessageLabs is also offering more stringent service-level agreements (SLAs) to guarantee availability and will release further SLAs in future, added Czarny.
Web Security Services will be offered in two packages. The first, Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus, features multiple commercial anti-virus and anti-spyware engines as well as MessageLabs' own Skeptic technology to identify and stop web-based threats.
The second service, Email and Web Control, enables organisations to establish and enforce acceptable use policies for web browsing and regulatory compliance, said Czarny.
"One of the reasons we built the services from scratch is because now we can offer a tightly integrated set of web services," said Czarny. "You can turn to a single vendor across all major channels and [benefit from] ease of management and configuration, a single window into reporting and one service and support number.
Web Security Services version 2 will be available worldwide from 1 July.
