Google to host developer days
Google Developer Days are designed to explore uses of Google tools and will include workshops and keynotes
Ten of Google's global offices will host Developer Days next month.
The events, called Google Developer Day, take place on 31 May and will feature workshops, keynotes and break-out sessions covering all of the firm’s APIs and developer tools.
The theme of the open days is "Building Blocks for Better Web Applications". According to the firm, they are designed to explore uses of its tools, enhance applications and improve integration with Google's popular services. Topics include developing for Google Maps and its other geographical services, better web development, mashups, and developing with open source.
"We're very excited to hold this first-ever worldwide Google developer gathering," said Google Vice President of Search Products and User Experience Marissa Mayer. “Developers are using Google's APIs and tools to build innovative web applications that we never dreamed of, and Google Developer Day is an opportunity for them to connect with one another, learn the latest techniques and have their questions answered by Google's developer product teams. It’s also a chance for us to get feedback from the community and find ways to make our developer offerings even better."
Developer Day will take place in Mountain View, Sao Paulo, Madrid, London, Paris, Hamburg, Moscow, Beijing, Tokyo and Sydney. For those that cannot attend, Google will stream webcasts and offer a YouTube channel for presentations throughout the day.
