Council installs enterprise resource system to integrate back office functions

Harrow Council has started using an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to unite its back office systems.

Combining finance, procurement, human resources and property services, the ERP system is intended to improve services offered to the borough's citizens.

The system has been developed and installed on time and within budget, says Paul Najsarek, Director of People, Policy and Performance of Harrow Council.

'It will enable a more efficient service for our 211,000 residents and an extremely cost effective solution for the council,' he said.

'By having greater accessibility to information, the new technology and processes will enable council employees to concentrate on providing a first rate service for residents, rather than undertaking repetitive administrative and clerical tasks.'

Harrow has also installed a Management Information System (Mis) to allow managers to get a better feel for what is going on within the organisation.

Both systems have been launched as part of the transformation partnership between Harrow and Capita, which was launched in July 2005.
