Betfair picks PEER 1 for peak demand

Online sports bookmaker hopes to satisfy demand

Betfair hopes to ensure the web site does not crash during the World Cup

Betfair has chosen managed hosting provider PEER 1 to equip the company for unexpected demand.

As part of the deal, Betfair is being provided with four load-balanced servers and access to PEER 1’s content delivery network which will maximise bandwidth.

“When Betfair experiences server downtimes, it results in loss of revenue and customers and has the potential to damage our reputation," said Jean-Christophe Hermier, account manager at Betfair.

"We needed to ensure that the platform can support our continuously growing database of members and that our web site does not crash due to overload during events such as the World Cup,” he said.

Dominic Monkhouse, UK managing director of PEER 1, added: “We work with a wide range of customers from app developers to web design agencies – they all demand one thing: a hosting service that will ensure their web sites are kept up and running, irrespective of traffic peaks.”
