National Rail improves online services

New search facility to make it easier to find cheapest fare

Booking train tickets has been made easier

National Rail Enquiries has upgraded its online journey planner, one of country's the most visited web sites last year, to make it easier for customers to find the cheapest fare.

The www.nationalrail.co.uk web site provides both train time and fare information for journeys throughout the UK and the changes are the first of a series of planned improvements.

National Rail Enquiries has upgraded the search engine to provide the cheapest ticket in three different categories first before showing prices for all other relevant tickets.

Future improvements planned for later this year include the ability to print timetable tickets for specific journeys at home and a search facility to find the cheapest tickets across several days.

‘This new presentation will make it easier for passengers to find the right fare,’ said chief executive Chris Scoggins.

‘We have run design workshops and consulted with Passenger Focus to make sure we understand fully what passengers want,' he said.
