Lenovo ships first AMD PC

The latest Lenovo ThinkCentre A Series desktop PCs offer AMD single- or dual-core processors

Lenovo has introduced its first ever desktop system based on AMD processors. The ThinkCentre A60 is designed to offer firms good value without sacrificing the enterprise-level features of the range, according to the vendor.

The ThinkCentre A60 ships with AMD’s Athlon 64, Sempron or dual-core Athlon 64 X2 processors. It also features Lenovo’s ThinkVantage technologies to help users solve problems without needing to call a helpdesk.

“Customers want stable solutions and innovative technologies that help them reduce costs,” said Thomas Tobul, director of Global Desktop Marketing at Lenovo.

The new models offer a low price point, and allow tool-free access to the chassis and other components such as the drives and adapter card, Lenovo said.

The ThinkCentre A60 supports DDR2 memory, hard drives up to 500GB, and Nvidia GeForce 6100 graphics. Prices for the new desktop range start at £460.
