Ireland targets illegal file sharers for internet termination

Ireland targets digital pirates
The Irish Republic's biggest ISP, incumbent Eircom has begun sending letters to illegal file sharers, warning they could be barred from the internet unless they stop.
Although France has been planning a similar policy, the Irish Republic is the first country to implement such a procedure.
Eircom has been tipped off about the IP addresses of file sharers, by the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA).
IRMA has charged web monitoring firm Dtecnet, with picking up IP addresses from the pirates, although people sharing content are the main targets of the action.
UK comms regulator Ofcom's code of conduct on how it will deal with UK-based pirates will be unveiled later this week.
