WebWasher is freshened up
WebWasher net security tool upgraded by Secure Computing
Security vendor Secure Computing has upgraded the WebWasher web security gateway system acquired from its merger with CyberGuard, and integrated the TrustedSource Global Reputation System (GRS) that resulted from its CipherTrust acquisition.
Secure Computing’s Mike Smart said, “Version 6.0 is a combination of technology from all three companies. The technology we’re using is a combination of signature-based anti-malware protection as well as proactive traffic scanning.”
The GRS has been integrated with Secure Computing’s URL filtering engine, giving IT staff the ability to stop users from going to blacklisted web sites. “The reputation system can also proactively block people inadvertently going to phishing links,” said Smart.
WebWasher is available now as software that can be installed on commodity hardware running Windows, Linux or Solaris, or it can be purchased loaded onto dedicated WebWasher appliances.
