Rio Tinto takes in-house control
Mining company's software will reduce cost and management overheads
Rio Tinto overhauls its web site
Mining and exploration giant Rio Tinto is overhauling its corporate web site so it can manage content from around the globe in-house.
The new site will deliver up-to-date corporate and financial information from around the world to global stakeholders and investors.
Rio Tinto staff in the UK, US and Australia, will be able to manage content in-house to reduce the costs and management overheads of outsourcing.
It is using global content management software (CMS) from Red Dot to update and control editorial content centrally.
It allows non-technical users to control content for faster publishing to ensure up-to-the-minute information is always available online.
Rio Tinto is rolling the software out to its businesses around the world for their local web sites and will also add RedDot’s content translation tools.
‘Keeping stakeholders informed is essential to the success of our business,’ said Rio Tinto principal advisor Bryan Smith.
‘Ensuring the public web site is up to date with the very latest company and financial information is the most effective way of achieving this simply and effectively.’
‘We selected RedDot for its usability and flexibility and have already seen a reduction in the time it takes to update new content, improvements in site performance and savings on internal management and control costs.’
