Scottish Ambulance Service looking for mobile data solution

Solution will be deployed across 625 ambulances in Scotland

Ambulances will be kitted out with equipment including a thermal printer

The Scottish Ambulance Service is looking to procure a mobile data solution for its Patient Transport Service (PTS).

The PTS is provided to transport patients who have a pre-arranged hospital or outpatient centre appointment.

The service is looking for a rugged PC solution that will travel inside the ambulance and be connected to a patient transport database.

The spec summary includes the following requirements and components as a guide to suppliers:

• Vehicle mobile data terminals: The provision of appropriate robust mobile data terminals, that have been developed for use in an emergency/non-emergency operational (or similar) environment.
• Vehicle mobile data communications: The provision of appropriate and secure mobile data communications from the vehicle to a centralised communications server with GPS positioning from the vehicle.
• Vehicle mobile data printer: The provision of an appropriate thermal printer.
• Vehicle equipment installation: The installation of all mobile data equipment in both the vehicle and the IT equipment room(s) to agreed technical standards.
• Central communications server: The provision of an appropriate communications server that will be used to send and receive information
  from the mobile data terminals to the centralised PTS system.

The solution will be deployed across about 625 vehicles throughout Scotland. A minimum of five vendors will be invited to tender.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has not released payment terms but they will be contained in the terms and conditions of the contract.
