Campbell's sinks teeth into telematics
Meat manufacturer tracks vehicles in real time
Campbell’s Prime Meat has installed location-based technology in its vehicle fleet to provide real-time visibility and improve the delivery of its products to top Scottish restaurants.
The catering company will deploy internet-based fleet and asset management technology in its fleet of 75 refrigerated delivery vehicles as part of the £200,000 deal.
The telematics technology will improve Campbell’s delivery to customers, boost efficiency and provide in-depth reporting to meet regulatory requirements.
Financial controller Stephen Sweeney says Campbell’s Prime Meat is as much a delivery company as it is a manufacturer and the efficiency of its logistics operation is crucial.
‘By implementing Cybit's Fleetstar-Online fleet and asset management solution we can improve our delivery capabilities and therefore provide our customers with an enhanced level of service,’ he said.
‘It will also help us to reduce driver overtime by better planning the delivery routes, enabling us to operate our fleet more efficiently.’
Fleetstar-Online is a scalable internet-based product that features real-time vehicle tracking, exception reporting, replay mode, customised reports, mileage information, SMS messaging and live traffic information.
Fleet vehicles are fitted with a small electronic in-vehicle-unit which is tracked by GPS in real-time and then transmits data to Cybit’s online control centre. Companies can access information anywhere and at any time through a standard web browser.
