Safer document sharing

Collaboration web service, Bee-me.com lets workgroups remotely share documents

UK-based collaboration specialist RealFlair has introduced Bee-me.com, a web-based service that lets workgroups remotely share documents. Unlike rival peer-to-peer collaboration tools, Bee-me.com does not give access to another user’s PC.

Bee-me.com supports personal file storage space, web-based email, contact management and calendar sharing, the firm said. It can be used to share information among teams where some members are working from remote locations or are employed by a partner company.

The service is powered by RealFlair’s RFOne platform. This communicates with a small client program installed on each user’s desktop to keep files synchronised via an online My Documents folder.

Because this architecture does not allow direct access to other computers, it is much more secure than rival peer-to-peer networks, according to RealFlair. All data transfers are secured using SSL encryption.

Users can register for 10MB of file and data sharing space. An upgrade to 1GB of space costs £7.99 per month.
