Yahoo and Bebo sign ad partnership

Deal is latest move in rivalry for online advertising market

Yahoo is expanding its online ad network

Yahoo has signed an exclusive deal to handle display advertising for social networking site Bebo.

The move is part of the search gaint's on-going competition for ad revenues with rival Google and follows last week's $300m (£149) purchase of Blue Lithium, a marketing network that allows for detailed feedback on surfing trends.

Yahoo will now sell most of the display and video adverts appearing on the UK and Ireland branches of Bebo, which caters to an estimated 11.6 million users.

Details of the multi-year Bebo contract were not disclosed.
