Scottish Water sources £28m deal with Fujitsu

The eight year contract will cover the provision of IT infrastructure and relevant support

The eight year deal with Fujitsu is worth £28m

Scottish Water has signed an eight year deal worth £28m with Fujitsu Services.

The utility company expects the agreement to generate savings of 20 per cent, as Fujitsu takes responsibility for IT infrastructure and service desks. The contract will require Fujitsu to support 4,000 employees based in offices around Scotland, as well engineers and remote workers.

"Scottish Water has some great aspirations and we believe one of the ways to help us on our way is the provision of our IT through Fujitsu – not only to save on costs but also to free up our resources internally to concentrate on other strategic projects,” said David Brown, IT manager for the utility.

The Fujitsu arrangement will work alongside a communications deal with BT, and an applications management contract with Tata Consultancy Services.
