County council plans upgrade to support tranfers of data
Hertfordshire County Council is planning an update of its voice and data infrastructure to ensure it is using its communications as efficiently as possible.
The council plans to use the system to improve its services across a range of areas, including services to schools, libraries, roads and services to the elderly and disabled.
As part of the plans the Hertfordshire is conducting a benchmarking exercise alongside a consultant firm to get information on costs, tariffs, contracts and vendors, and make sure it is getting the best possible value for money.
Hertfordshire County Council has 6,000 staff that rely on voice and data services on a daily basis, says head of IT infrastructure, John Alleyne.
'It is therefore important that we maintain an efficient infrastructure that delivers the best possible return on our investment,' he said.
'In using Improcom to conduct our voice and data benchmarking exercise, we can benefit from its awareness and experience of different technologies used by organisations not only across local government, but also in the commercial sector.'
