Meat transporter tucks in to fleet tracking
Campbell's uses GPS to track trucks while out on delivery duties
GPS will help improve meat firm's fleet tracking
Butcher Campbell's Prime Meat has ordered a £200,000 fleet tracking system for monitoring its 75 refrigerated delivery lorries.
The Scottish catering butcher will use the system to track its vehicles in real time and improve services to the shops, hotels and restaurants to which it supplies meat products.
The company is as much a delivery company as a manufacturer, and so the efficiency of its logistics operation is critical to the success of the business, says Campbell's Prime Meat financial controller, Stephen Sweeney.
'By implementing Cybit's Fleetstar-Online fleet and asset management solution we can improve our delivery capabilities, and therefore provide our customers with an enhanced level of service,' he said.
'The solution will also help us to reduce driver overtime by better planning the delivery routes, enabling us to operate our fleet more efficiently.'
Apart form real-time tracking the system, which works via global positioning system (GPS) devices, will allow the meat deliverer to obtain customised reports on its deliveries, mileage details and live traffic information.
