Building society to update banking systems

Nottingham society to install web-based systems

Nottingham Building Society is overhauling its core banking systems to improve its competitiveness.

The building society is replacing its savings and mortgage system and a Unisys Smart Channel Manager application with applications from vendor TietoEnator.

Nottingham will now use web-based point of sale systems, application processing, account administration and back-office collection and recovery processes.

Jack Cutts, head of IT at Nottingham Building Society, says the new technology will play a key role in improving the company's competitive advantage.

'Our customers will benefit from a wider product choice, increased access via more channels and a proactive service via a more customer-focused system, as well as faster and more efficient personalised responses,' said Cutts.

The building society, which has 32 branches across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire, will also be able to reduce its costs using the new systems, says Cutts.

'The Society will achieve operational cost benefits, a result of the efficiency of the new systems compared with our existing infrastructure,' he said.
