FA Premier League updates its office network
New infrastructure will better support voice over IP and other high-bandwidth applications
The FA Premier League has upgraded the network infrastructure at its new London headquarters to ensure voice over IP (VoIP), cable television and media broadcast applications run reliably.
The organisers of the Premiership wanted a communications system across three floors of the building that would support demanding gigabit applications for at least the next five years, and contracted ACCL to implement Systimax Solutions’ GigaSpeed XL copper-based technology.
The product offers performance beyond the standard for gigabit Ethernet cabling, suited for high-end local area network infrastructures.
The implementation was a fast-track installation with an eight-day timescale for all the initial cabling. Working within the tightdeadlines, ACCL was supported by Anixter, a distributor for wire, cabling and communications products.
‘As part of the relocation, we took advantage of the opportunity to revise our network strategy and put a solution in place that would grow with our business and with the demands of our IT applications,’ said Simon Thunder, IT and telecoms manager at the FA Premier League.
‘We are running a series of high bandwidth applications across our network that are key to our business communications going forward.’
