CollabNet announces global Eclipse development environment

Open-source software helps track and manage source code

Collaborative software development vendor CollabNet has launched a development platform that enables distributed software development in a native Eclipse environment.

Eclipse is an open-source software development environment that is platform-independent. The CollabNet Desktop Eclipse Edition is designed to allow programmers to centrally track and manage source code, project tasks and assets.

"Up to now, the market lacked an integrated development platform that drove project visibility, tracking and reporting without requiring developers to leave their development environment to contribute to lifecycle processes required by the enterprise," said CollabNet.

Access to related discussion forums and other community services are available on openCollabNet. In addition, CollabNet offers enterprise training, support subscriptions and consulting for the CollabNet Desktop.

CollabNet is allowing free downloads of the complete Eclipse distributed software development environment and there are also commercial support subscriptions for CollabNet Enterprise Edition users.
