Wholesale broadband consultation starts

Watchdog proposes different regulations for different regions depending on market conditions

Regulation will depend on availability of non-BT infrastructure

Regulation of the wholesale broadband market could be pared down in areas of the country where competition is thriving, according to a consultation by watchdog Ofcom starting today.

The plans divide the country into four regions depending on the availability of non-BT infrastructure – such as the cable network - to allow regulations to be tailored to suit individual conditions.
