Merula invests £1m in East Anglian data centre

London facilities expensive, cramped and unavailable

Merula offers web, email and server hosting from Huntingdon datacentre

Internet service provider (ISP) Merula has opened its own datacentre facility in Cambridgeshire to meet increased demand for hosted web site, email and servers from business customers.

The company already owns facilities at four datacentres in London and another in the Midlands.

The new facility, based in Huntingdon, has been installed with backup air conditioning, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to enhance server reliability and resiliency.

It also has its own generators and enough fuel to keep systems running for up to three days in the event of power failures, said Merula.
