Met Police signs identity management deal
BT to oversee integration of physical and IT security systems at the Metropolitan Police
Tightening security at the Met
The Metropolitan Police Service has signed a identity and access management deal with BT's Global Services division.
Under the contract, BT will integrate elements from existing systems to create a comprehensive identity and access management system.
"Through this contract, we aim to enhance security and risk management, as well as introduce more efficient IT processes and new ways of working at the Metropolitan Police,” said Catherine Crawford, chief executive of the Metropolitan Police Authority, which holds the Met to account.
Earlier this year, the Met put out a tender for 80,000 smartcards and 35,000 smartcard readers as part of the overhaul of its identity and access management systems.
