Nortel brings voice to Office

But, only for firms currently using SIP-based communications systems

Firms using Nortel's Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based communications systems can now integrate IP telephony functions with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.

First announced last summer, Nortel Converged Office is now available to UK buyers.
The collaboration with Nortel gives Microsoft an opportunity to sell its Live Communications Server to users of Nortel's back-end Communications Server CS 1000 IP telephony platform. It also gives Nortel users the Microsoft Office Communicator desktop voice interface.
