Adobe puts web analytics into new version of Creative Suite

Adobe upgrades flagship content creation system to version five

Adobe bundles web analytics into Creative Suite 5

Adobe has released version five of its flagship content creation system Creative Suite (CS).

The new version will include software from Omniture Technologies designed to mine and analyse data generated by Creative Suite-designed websites.

Adobe acquired web analytics firm Omniture in late 2009 for about $1.8bn (£1.2bn), hoping to combine Omniture’s signature technology with Adobe’s content creation system Creative suite.

Another component new to Creative Suite is Flash Catalyst, touted by Adobe to give, “the ability to design interactive content without writing code and also to improve collaboration between designer and developer.”

Adobe CS5 will also enable application and content creation for the upcoming Flash Player 10.1 and Adobe AIR 2 releases, which are optimised for high performance on mobile screens.

Designed to take advantage of native device capabilities Adobe says these packages give: “a richer, more immersive user experience.”

Adobe’s new software line up is headed up by its flagship CS5 Master Collection package.

Besides Flash Catalyst and the new Omniture web analytics capabilities, Master Collection CS5 includes Photoshop CS5, Illustrator CS5, InDesign CS5, Flash Professional CS5, Dreamweaver CS5, Premiere Pro CS5 and After Effects CS5.

These tools are also available separately or in one of the five Creative Suite editions. These are the aforementioned Creative Suite 5 Master Collection, Creative Suite 5 Design Premium, Creative Suite 5 Web Premium, Creative Suite 5 Production Premium and Creative Suite 5 Design Standard.

Adobe’s CS5 software packages are due to ship within 30 days. Estimated street pricing (ex. VAT) for the Master Collection CS5 is £2,303, for CS5 Design Premium £1,509, and for CS5 Design Standard £1,032.
