Charity upgrades IT contact system

Contact and document management software will improve efficiency, says Shelter

Homeless charity Shelter is to upgrade contact and document management technology to improve efficiency and house more people.

The Civica system will launch in September and integrate data into a central system.

Henny Braund, director of resources at Shelter, says the system will manage the charity’s contact with more than 170,000 homeless and badly-housed people across the UK.

‘By moving to an electronic case management system we aim to improve the efficiency with which we manage information and deliver for our clients,’he said.

The system will ensure all data for a particular case is accessible to staff, helping house 10 per cent more homeless people a year.
