Bupa hires new CIO

Healthcare firm poaches FT's chief operating officer

Yasmin Jetha is Bupa's new CIO

Health-care provider Bupa has hired Yasmin Jetha - currently chief operating officer at the Financial Times - as its new IT chief.

From October, Jetha will oversee Bupa’s global IT function and will report to the firm's chief executive, Ray King.

"Yasmin brings to Bupa an impressive track record in the IT industry. She will play a crucial role as chief information officer (CIO) in driving forward our IT function and identifying opportunities for technology to enable growth and support our business priorities," said King.

At the FT, Jetha's reponsibilities also cover global IT services for the media group. Her background includes a stint at Abbey National, where her remit included responsibility for technology.

The news of the new CIO appointment at Bupa follows the departure of the firm's previous IT leader, John Lister, who moved on to Specsavers earlier this year after a six-year period at the health-care firm.
