Fashion designer cuts out security threats

Paul Smith implements managed service to protect its corporate network

UK fashion designer Paul Smith has cut the number of security attacks to zero after implementing managed security services is to protect its corporate network from web-based threats.

Paul Smith is using web filtering, scanning and spyware services provided by Scansafe to protect its network from an increasing number of malware threats and to control internet use by its employees.

‘Since deploying managed web security services, we haven’t had a single attack from malware or any other web security threat to our network,’ said Lee Bingham, Paul Smith IT manager.

‘We get full protection from malware and unwanted content with zero latency, allowing us to focus our IT resources on other projects.'

The internet and web-based applications are used by various departments throughout Paul Smith for new product design, research, production, distribution and administration.

The security system has identified more than 283 web-based viruses to date, blocks an average of 20,000 spyware and adware programs each month and over 10,000 unwanted URLs.

The service also enables non-IT specialists including senior department managers and human resources staff located worldwide to generate detailed reports about malware, web usage patterns and bandwidth utilisation, freeing up valuable time for IT staff and highlighting areas that might lead to potential IT security risks.
