Harrods to install integration suite
Department store maximises legacy technology use
Harrods is to install Java-based integration software to support its multi-channel retail strategy.
The luxury department store will use integration products from Sun Microsystems to create a single view of its customer, product and promotional data by linking online, point-of-sale and operational systems.
‘The abundance of departments and customers that we deal with on a day-to-day basis demands a reliable and integrated IT infrastructure that will allow for the adoption of new technology while preserving our existing IT investments,’ said chief information officer David Llamas.
Harrods will primarily use the software with internal systems that handle marketing across its shop, direct mail and online operations. The first phase of the deployment will integrate customer data from across the company’s back-office legacy systems, to support future business growth initiatives.
