Bus operator offers free WiFi

Passengers of the Red Arrow service running between Nottingham and Derby can use internet onboard for free

Passengers commuting on the Red Arrow Nottingham-Derby service can now surf the web for free

Bus operator Trent Barton is offering free WiFi connection for travellers on its Red Arrow service running between Nottingham and Derby.

Eight buses out of the operators’ fleet of 270 were fitted with the WiFi devices. The system sits on a network infrastructure that also supports CCTV, telematics and remote GPS fleet monitoring.

"By putting WiFi hotspots on our vehicles we're offering passengers a way to make the most of the forty minute journey," said Trent Barton’s commercial manager Mark Greasley.

The wireless connection is provided by Moovera Networks.

National Express is reaping the benefits of offering online access to its customers. In March, the transport group reported a threefold increase in the use of onboard WiFi on the East Coast train service since offering it for free from December.
