P&O Ferries improves online passenger services

Passenger ferry company implements content management system to improve web site

P&O Ferries has implemented a web content management system which allows the company to deliver passenger updates and schedules.

The new system supplied by Rhythmyxwill improve the publishing of time-critical information throughout its consumer web site, used by millions of ferry passengers each year.

The web site accounts for a significant proportion of the firm's business and is one of its key communication channels.

Publishing time has been reduced to a matter of hours and allows P&O Ferries to communicate timely travel updates and schedules. The site has been made available initially in four languages – French, German, English and Dutch.

'We needed to redevelop the site in different languages and ensure brand and layout consistency across site. said head of ebusiness Hayden Sutherland .

'We were looking for a solution which could be used by non-IT staff throughout the organisation, but which would also have a strong workflow management capability,' he said.

'We are now publishing information quicker which has allowed us to extend the online services we offer.'

P&O Ferries manages routes for passengers, cars and freight to France, Belgium, Holland and Spain.
