BAE improves its intelligence
Consistent view of data improves accuracy and timeliness of business information
Technology services company BAE Systems Customer Solutions is using business intelligence software to deliver a single view of disparate financial, operational and human resources data.
The aim is to ensure that information from various legacy systems and lines of business are integrated into one, consistent version of operational performance data.
The company, which provides managed IT services to defence and civilian markets, has recently undertaken a major effort to integrate multiple applications into one enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
BAE places a high value on the integrity of its information, says Marybeth Wootton, vice president of performance excellence.
‘By leveraging business intelligence software across our newly consolidated ERP system, we have confidence in the accuracy and timeliness of data feeding our company’s top-line financials,’ said Wootton.
‘We can now provide business scorecards for senior management, which gives them visibility into operational trends and warning signs,’ she said.
The company will use enterprise information management software to ensure that information is consistent. It also plans to deploy a web-based analysis tool, data integrator and dashboard manager.
The business intelligence platform uses software from supplier BusinessObjects.
