Food body serves up certification for documents
CERT ID aims to stamp out document tampering
International food certification body Cert ID has introduced new security technology to stop electronic reports and certificates being tampered with.
Cert ID Europe has installed GeoTrust’s Adobe Certified Document system on the recommendation of the British Retail Consortium (BRC).
The organisation is using the system to prevent distributed documents being tampered with, and to provide its clients with an easy way to validate the authenticity of their certificates.
Richard Werran, managing director of Cert ID Europe, says the system is crucial to maintaining the organisation’s reputation.
‘With supply chains becoming longer it is vital that we ensure the legitimate use of our certificates,’ he said.
‘Any damage to our reputation through document fraud or ID theft can have serious legal and commercial implications.’
When the system is in use a digital certification panel appears on screen whenever the document is opened, immediately identifying its origins to the reader who can verify that the document is authentic.
