Private network links markets

Secure, fixed price direct network access to European and US stock exchanges, but none in London.

Metro Ethernet specialist Exponential-E has launched a private network designed for the financial community offering fixed-price direct access into a number of global stock exchanges.

So far, none of the London stock exchanges are included on the Financial Service Creation Platform (FSCP) network. However, Exponential-E marketing director Harvey Jones said an announcement will be made soon. Supported exchanges include the Deutsche Boerse and the New York Stock Exchange.

“Because it’s all on our network and it is Layer 2 Ethernet, security is not an issue and resilience is good; we haven’t had an unplanned outage in four years,” said Jones. “Customers can have either a virtual LAN or a physical connect if they require one.”

The FSCP also provides access to iSCSI-based data storage capacity, which can help companies comply with governance rules.

Companies have to pay to join the stock exchange before they can use the network and must satisfy the usual audit and due diligence checks required by the financial community.
