Ingrian extends encryption

File Systems Connector can aid PCI compliance, says vendor

Data privacy specialist Ingrian Networks has launched a new solution designed to encrypt structured and unstructured data and support compliance requirements such as the Payment Card Initiative (PCI) Data Security Standard.

Ingrian File Systems Connector works with the firm's DataSecure Platform to provide encryption for directories, files and file types on enterprise servers, according to the firm's European sales manager Jon Shaw.

"We already did granular level encryption at the database and the application level but our customers said they wanted a single vendor solution that also has granular and file-based encryption," he added. "This is not network intensive as it off-loads to a high performance device sitting on the network."

Shaw explained that PCI compliance is a major driver for most Ingrian customers, although many large enterprises are now extending their encryption solutions to HR, CRM and other corporate systems.
