A US research group is suing Nokia and others over alleged patent violations

A US research body is suing Nokia, Samsung and Panasonic over alleged patent violations in Bluetooth. The Washington Research Foundation’s claim appears to only affect the US, where the short-range radio technology has been less successful than in Europe. The writ could make licensees pay for usage rights to Bluetooth intellectual property, which so far has been freely distributed.
