Humberside police track speeding drivers
Computer system upgraded to process offenders more efficiently
Humberside Police is to use an upgraded penalty system to deal with speeding drivers more efficiently.
The system is to be used as part of the force's Speed Awareness Scheme, which offers offenders of a choice between a fixed penalty notice or attendance of a speed awareness course.
Education is very important to changing attitudes to speeding, says Humberside Police central ticketing office manager, Tracey Windas.
'We have been successfully running speed awareness schemes for several years and this upgrade to our systems will enable us to process information more efficiently and continue to help us educate speeding motorists,' she said.
The Northgate Information Solution supplied system also checks on whether drivers attend the courses they are booked on, and re-instates a penalty if they do not.
Links with the DVLA also check whether the driver has attended courses in other places, and manage all communications with offenders.
