DotMobi releases more resources for developers

New mobile domain has online guidance and resources as support

DotMobi, the registry for the new .mobi top level domain, has launched a guide and online resource designed to help web developers create content for the mobile internet.

The dotMobi Developer guide contains practical advice on how to create mobile content that conforms to the standards developed by dotMobi and the World-Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Mobile Web Initiative. It will be updated on an ongoing basis to reflect new mobile content developments, the firm said.

DotMobi also launched a new online interactive forum to provide developers with tools, guides, training classes, industry news and technical articles written by experts. Developers will also be able to submit questions and participate in online conversations about the mobile internet.

The site also features a Mobile Ready site testing tool that will help site owners and developers to determine if their site complies with industry standards, and provides advice on how to overcome problems discovered during the tests, said dotMobi.

"The intuitive developer guide and interactive forum helps web developers at all levels of ability create content for the mobile internet with a minimum of fuss," said dotMobi's style guides director Ronan Cremin. "It offers the opportunity to share and exchange ideas with other developers, and use an emulator to experience what sites will look like [to end-users]."
