Improved visibility of sales information and data access speed drive efficiency at the retailer
Matalan now has improved visibility of sales performance data
Clothing and homeware retailer Matalan is using a business intelligence package to improve its ability to access and manipulate sales data to enable more accurate decision making and cut costs.
The SAS-supplied platform was implemented to handle the analysis and reporting on over 460 million sales transactions processed by Matalan yearly, as well as the integration of data originating from other internal systems.
Matalan was previously unable to have effective access to trading performance data and relied on a paper-based, reporting system. The increased speed at which the information is available enable faster processing and decision making based on automated reports.
“Bringing all our data together means that we now have a platform to build upon for future developments in the areas of merchandise planning, supply chain management and marketing outreach,” said Matalan’s IT and logistics director Pete Trainer.
Capgemini is working with SAS and Matalan as the consulting and implementation partner.
