HP has announced new entry-level Intel and AMD based servers

HPwill today launch entry-level Intel- and AMD-based servers for firms with up to 1,000 staff, together with Citrix Access Essentials and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 application solution “blueprints”.

The new 1U Intel-based DL160G5 and 2U AMD-based DL185G5 models are available from today, priced around £710 +VAT and £1,040 + VAT respectively.
The DL160 supports Intel’s quad-core Xeon 5400 and dual-core Xeon 5200 processors and can have up to 3TB of Serial ATA (Sata) storage. The DL185 supports AMD’s dual-core Opteron 2200 processors and can have 10.5TB of Sata storage.

"We’ve also improved our Lights-Out 100 system to give better remote management of these new servers and other 100-series models,” said John Rennie, HP’s European industry standard servers product manager.

Further models, the 1U AMD-based DL165G5 and 2U Intel-based DL180G5, are due in February.
